This sprawling park is famous for cherry blossom viewing and centered around the remains of Hirosaki Castle. A total of 3,000 overhanging cherry trees bloom around the castle moats and make numerous flowery tunnels. This is a pleasant spot for spring picnics.
The castle was erected in 1611 but burnt down only 16 years later due to lightning. The current three-story keep was built in the early 19th century.

Went on Cherry Blossom period, very nice view on both late Evening and Afternoon (yes I went twice on different time just to catch the different moment), less people as compared to Tokyo during Cherry Blossom period, at least I can find a seat on bench easily. And I personally feel Cherry Blossom in Aomori is better than Tokyo as well, different species I guess?

Awesome big park with lots of walking trails trees and ponds as well as toilet facilities and information signs and maps. Very picturesque with the castle gates and towers interspersed among the trees. Great place to go for a walk or to have lunch or a picnic in the sun. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.
