This sprawling park is famous for cherry blossom viewing and centered around the remains of Hirosaki Castle. A total of 3,000 overhanging cherry trees bloom around the castle moats and make numerous flowery tunnels. This is a pleasant spot for spring picnics.
The castle was erected in 1611 but burnt down only 16 years later due to lightning. The current three-story keep was built in the early 19th century.

It was not Cherry Blossom season but we had a great time. Throughout the year they do a great job of scheduling fun events. You should visit regardless of the season.

Hirosaki Park is located in Aomori Prefecture. It is very popular and a lot of people
enjoy admiring the traditional Japanese scenery here.
We used to visit Hirosaki Park in spring. There were about 2600 sakura trees in bloom.
Together with Hirosaki Castle makes us feel like being in an unspeakable story.

Beautiful! The 3rd best place across Japan to watch the cherry blossom. 2 000 cherries in flower with the snowy mountain in the background, a Japanese castle on the top of hill and the river all around the park. Do not miss it! Even out of spring it worth it!

Great place to spend the afternoon! Optional tours of the castle grounds are best enjoyed in the spring and fall. We went once during the summer but our trip this fall more than made up for it!
