This museum is dedicated to Munakata Shiko (1903-1975), an Aomori native whose woodblock prints drew international attention. His works won first prizes in 1950s exhibitions in Switzerland, Brazil and Italy, and he later lectured at US universities and offered a number of solo exhibitions. Many of his works deal with religious themes and subjects taken from legends and nature. You can enjoy a comprehensive collection of his prints, paintings and calligraphic works.
