Akita Museum of Art, newly opened in 2013, is reputed for its large collection of Fujita Tsuguharu (Leonard Foujita). The most notable is Fujita's Events of Akita, the world's largest canvas painting that measures 3.65m by 20.5m and depicts the nature, festival, life, industry and history of Akita. The museum was designed by the internationally known architect Ando Tadao and adopts a number of triangular forms. The cafe on the second floor has a good view of Senshu Park.
