This photography museum is devoted to Domon Ken (1909-1990), a Sakata native photographer renowned for his works on temples and Buddhist images all over Japan. Those works are collected in the 5-volumn Koji Junrei ('Old Temple Pilgrimage'). Domon donated his entire collection of 70,000 prints to the town in 1974.

The museum also offers other categories of his collection, such as scenes involving children and Bunraku puppet shows. There are many photo postcards available at the museum's kiosk. It is a 15 minute ride south of the station by taxi.
