This pond in Sayama Park is often called Tacchan's Pond because of the following sorrowful episode. In the early 20th century, there lived a boy called Tacchan in the neiborhood of the park. One day he was drowned in the pond, and two young men who tried to save him also got drowned to death.

Since then, there has been continuous rumor that if you walk by the pond at night, white arms suddenly lunge out of the water to drag you into it. Some people claim to have heard a sobbing voice of the boy somewhere from the pond. Why did three persons die in this serene pond in the first place? Chances are that they were just victims of previously existing unsaved souls haunting there.
