It is told that Yuinen-Shonin (唯念上人) expounded the teachings of Buddha, spread Nenbutsu-ko (group of Buddhists meeting regularly to pray to Buddha), and trained at Okunosawa valley.
The villagers following the holy priest and Buddhists built and had him live at a thatched hut called “Yuinen-ji Temple” at Tenpō era 1 (1830).
The thatched hut was destroyed at the time of the Great Kanto Earthquake, was rebuilt over a period from 2000 to 2008 at this place from Okunosawa.
It is also chosen as Oyama town 12 selected tourisms.

この地方で疫病が流行った際、南無阿弥陀仏の石碑を各地に建てた唯念上人開基の寺院です。石仏群があります
