Shitennoji Temple, built in the 6th century, is one of the country's oldest temples. Only the huge gate (torii) is original, dating back to the 13th century. A five-story pagoda here allows you to climb up, and a pond with an amazing number of turtles is a must-see. A flea market is held on the 21st and 22nd of each month, and the Doya-Doya Naked Festival on January 14th is very popular. It is 5-minute on foot from Tennoji Station.

Pagoda full of plates honoring those who have passed was an interesting experience to tour, the were even offerings at the top. In the other temple I got the chance to see a monk perform a ceremony of some sort, and that was cool.

The seal giving area was kind of hard to find so dont feel bad if you have a hard time with it. You'll get lost in a good way though.

Good:
• Peaceful and quiet in the morning.
• Beautiful temple structures and architectural features.
• Ponds full of tortoises.
• Great place for prayers, for people of similar faith.
• Marvel at the beautiful bronze statue of Buddha.

Bad:
• Need to pay an admission fee for entrance into the inner temple and the pagoda.

Overall:
I went to the temple early around 10 am. There weren't many people around. Hence, it was peaceful and quiet. Great time to take photos of the beautiful structures and surroundings.

I entered the inner temple for free because I have the Osaka Amazing Pass. Else, you need to pay a small fee. There wasn't any event on that day.

This Buddhism temple is quite beautiful with nice red pagoda. Unfortunately, I could not enter the pagoda area because I visited too early (around 8.30 a.m.). To enter that zone, you must pay entrance fee; cannot remember how much it is but not that expensive.

Very huge compound. Relaxing and calming. Did not pay the entrance fee to get into the hall. The compound itself is big enough to stroll around.

One of the more basic temple with little to take in .. if you are around the area do visit but don’t take the trouble to trip there. Not worth the effort, don’t get me wrong beautiful nonetheless.
