Sumida River Fireworks4.6
The Sumida River Fireworks, held on the last Saturday of July, is one of the most famous firework displays in Japan. Alongside with the Tokyo Bay Grand Fireworks Festival and the Edogawa Fireworks Festival, both held in August, it is counted as one of Tokyo's Three Firework Events.
The popularity this event skyrocketed after the 634m-high Tokyo Skytree was erected close to the site. A spectacle of dazzling light from more than 20,000 fireworks attracts one million people every year. There is also a competition among Tokyo fireworks companies and top 10 pyrotechnics artists from all over Japan.
