Daiyuzan Saijoji Temple3.0
The Daiyuzan Saijoji Temple, also called Doryoson, in Minamiashigara is a prestigious temple of the Soto Zen Buddhism. It has over 3000 brach temples.
One of the most famous statues of the Daiyuzan Saijoji Temple is the Tengu. Tengu is humanoid creatures with wings and a long nose wearing Japanese Geta sandals. the former monk Doryo. It is said that Doryo turned into a Tengu after death and went to Daiyuzan mountain into hiding himself.
A lot of metal Geta sandals are donated in honor of Doryo and Tengu in the temple. Also, 500-year-old cedar trees are planted along the 3km path leading to the Nio-gate.
In addition, the couple who wants to hold their wedding ceremony at Saijoji Temple is welcomed.

A hidden gem, this complex of temples and shrines nestled under ancient cedars on the mountainside is a really atmospheric oasis of tranquility. Every visitor I have brought here has fallen in love with the place and are surprised it is not more famous (my last guests from Italy thought it worthy of UNESCO world heritage status!) and crowded (often no more than a handful of visitors when I go there). I honestly believe it is one of the best places to visit in Kanagawa. Be aware that there are a lot of steps, especially a very long steep flight up the mountainside if you want to go up to the small temple right at the top of the complex (in my opinion really not worth it unless you enjoy the exercise).

Literally one of my favourite places in the world. Temples scattered on the hillside among soaring cedar trees and an assortment of streams and water features. Beautiful in any season, but especially autumn for the colourful leaves. Similarly stunning in heavy rain and when covered in snow
