Setogawa River and White-walled Storehouse District (Seto-gawa to Shirakabe-Dozo-gai) 4.0
In addition to Takayama, "Hida Furukawa" is known as another old town in Hida, Gifu Prefecture.
This small and elegant town is perfect for a stroll.
The Setogawa River is one of the most popular spots in Hida Furukawa, where more than 1,000 colorful carp swim in the background of white-walled earthen storehouses and the stone walls of the temple.
The town is divided into a grid-like arrangement of streets and old houses, and the 500-meter-long street of white-walled earthen storehouses shows us beautiful scenery every season.
There is also a model course that takes you to places that were partly used as images in the hit movie "Kimino-Na-Wa".
Address:Ichinomachi, Furukawa-cho, Hida City, Gifu Prefecture
Access: 5 minutes walk from Hida Furukawa Station on the JR Takayama Line
Note: You can also rent a yukata or kimono for a stroll.

Walked there in late evening. Even in evenings the vibe was nice. Nice old town feeling. The old street in Takayama is pretty commercialised. It felt much better in this street and in the nearby areas.

What an amazing experience to walkthrough this cute little town! Lots of history packed in this town and the local shops and cafes are so neat.
