Mt. Yaguradake
Mt.Yaguradake is known as the mountain with the quickest upthrust in the world, as its plutonic rock uplifted 870m (2800ft) within 1,150,000 years.
It was named Yaguradake (Tower Mountain) as its characteristic shape looked like a Japanese watching tower to watch Ashigara Toge Ridge nearby.
Today this mountain is a popular hiking trail and a bird watching point where you can observe grey-faced buzzards migrating in autumn (September/October).
