"Kannami Watermelon" is Shizuoka prefecture's brand watermelon. Its best season is from early-June to early-August. The main feature of Kannami Watermelon is its high sugar content of 11 - 13 degrees Brix.
Watermelons with less than 11 degrees Brix are not accepted for shipping, and moreover, inspectors try to figure out its quality by hitting each watermelon by their hand.
