This 90km-long seasonal route passes over a 3,000m lofty peak by varied means of transportation including a train, a rope way, cable-cars, tunnel trolleys, busses and your own feet. The route connects Tateyama (elevation 475m) in Toyama Prefecture and Shinano-omachi in Nagano Prefecture (elevation 713m) with a straight-line distance of 25km and passes an area at an altitude of 2,450m. The one-way trip takes at least 6 hours.

The route, open from mid-April to mid-November, offers an exciting scenery of mountains, a deep dam and alpine plants. One of the most famous spots is the highest point Murodo where you go through a 500m-long bus road flanked with snow walls, which remains as high as 20m in spring. A short trek from here takes to Japan's highest onsen. Private cars are not allowed for the trolley and bus sections.

It is beautiful and an enjoyable visit to experience the sight of dove white mountains soared into the sky. A not to miss destination. Expect to plan ahead as the time of visiting and travelling along the alpine route take an average of 5 hours
It takes 6 modes of transportation of to and from peak and downhill. The place only open to tourists in april and may each year.
