"Watarium Museum of Contemporary Art" in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, was designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta and opened in 1990.
The museum showcases modern art across a range of mediums, including sculpture, photography, and industrial design.
For making exhibition with international artists striving for the development of contemporary art, specialists are invited from all over the world. Also the museum examines Japan's position in the international art scene and builds relation between Japanese and Asian artists.
Various events such as workshop, art performance, music show, movie screening, and art program for kids, are held regularly.
Visitors can also spend some time in the first-floor cafe and bookstore area after browsing the curated works upstairs.
