World Heritage: Himeji Castle4.8
Himeji Castle is one of very few original castles in Japan that have survived wars, fires and earthquake without reconstruction. The architecture, built on a hill in early 17th century, comprises well preserved 83 buildings, including the castle keep, watch towers and gates, which are ingeniously arranged with stone walls and moats for bristling defense. The stately white form of the castle gives it a moniker, white heron.
Major renovation works are being carried out on the castle keep's roof and walls until March 2015.

Stunning castle. Wonderful interior with traditional wooden floors, steep stairs, and small windows. The landscaped gardens are worth having a good look at as well. Try to visit during off season and when there are not many tourists, you feel like you are taking a trip back in time. Took the bullet train to Himeji Station, then a long but pleasant walk to the castle. After a few hours exploring the castle, have lunch at the many noodle shops around, then back to the JR station. Plan for about a day all up. The castle is a UNESCO world heritage site due to its history.

Beautiful white castle clearly dominates the Himeji city and the surrounding landscape. Inside you find a surprise – original timber construction – both intricate and mighty. There also is a model of the inner construction in the castle.
Otherwise the interior is more or less empty.
The top floor provides for stunning views.

Best place to travel because it is the biggest castle of japan and 8th in the world. This is entered in UNESCO world heritage site also. You will actually feel you are back to those golden days . 🆘Note :- very much work so wear convenient shoes 👟 . No♿️ no elevator 🛗and I don’t think old people can walk so much of height because there are lots of stares . But yes they can enjoy in park area and click lots of beautiful 🤩 pictures for sure. Many souvenirs shops nearby. Parking is available 24hours ¥600 for 3 hours. Entering fee in castle is ¥1000 for adults and children goes for ¥800 and ¥300 I guess.

The castle is under restoration..some of the area is restricted but you can still go up to the castle..there are proper signage for foreigners for them to read and also a lot of clean and accessible toilets. You cannot enter if you don't wear mask properly, so you must observe the rules and follow them...also there are lot of alcohol and hand sanitizer that you can used as much as you need. If you're going to visit during weekdays maybe you can encounter a lot of students whose having a field trip, so please be aware of your surroundings and wear 😷., for all of our safety!...have fun visiting☺

The perfect destination for tourist. Everybody can take beautiful photos of the iconic castle tower. This castle tower is the first thing that most of us, most people in the world, imagine when we think of Japan or Japanese castle.
My recommendation is a photo shoot from the zoo in the castle. You can take perfect photos with the red beautiful bridge. Cherry blossom season is the best for it.
