World Heritage: Himeji Castle4.8
Himeji Castle is one of very few original castles in Japan that have survived wars, fires and earthquake without reconstruction. The architecture, built on a hill in early 17th century, comprises well preserved 83 buildings, including the castle keep, watch towers and gates, which are ingeniously arranged with stone walls and moats for bristling defense. The stately white form of the castle gives it a moniker, white heron.
Major renovation works are being carried out on the castle keep's roof and walls until March 2015.

In my opinion I found the Himeji Castle much grander and beautiful than Osaka castle. Getting here requires a bit of time travelling but thankfully with the many bullet trains it only took about a bit over an hour to get there from Osaka. It's extremely well maintained as well and so spotless not a single rubbish in sight but then again this is Japan we're talking about. The castle grounds are beautiful and you'll be walking around a few loops uphill until you get to the top where you really see how big and grand the castle is. There's also a really beautiful Japanese garden and restaurant nearby and you can appreciate the bonsai and flower presentations near the front entrance of the castle.

Best place to travel because it is the biggest castle of japan and 8th in the world. This is entered in UNESCO world heritage site also. You will actually feel you are back to those golden days . 🆘Note :- very much work so wear convenient shoes 👟 . No♿️ no elevator 🛗and I don’t think old people can walk so much of height because there are lots of stares . But yes they can enjoy in park area and click lots of beautiful 🤩 pictures for sure. Many souvenirs shops nearby. Parking is available 24hours ¥600 for 3 hours. Entering fee in castle is ¥1000 for adults and children goes for ¥800 and ¥300 I guess.

The castle is under restoration..some of the area is restricted but you can still go up to the castle..there are proper signage for foreigners for them to read and also a lot of clean and accessible toilets. You cannot enter if you don't wear mask properly, so you must observe the rules and follow them...also there are lot of alcohol and hand sanitizer that you can used as much as you need. If you're going to visit during weekdays maybe you can encounter a lot of students whose having a field trip, so please be aware of your surroundings and wear 😷., for all of our safety!...have fun visiting☺

Everyone visiting Japan must go there. It's not far from Osaka by train so it's worth the trip. It's so big it takes more than 2 hours or more to visit if you want to visit the whole place. Like many Japan attractions it's super cheap and worth the admission price for sure. It transports you in the past, it's well preserved. The photo ops are endless...

One of the last real Japanese castle that left in Japan.
You can find some guides that are giving the tour for free.
Don't expect to see any items, it's not a museum and the castle is empty.
But you can visit the building and go on top.
