World Heritage: Iwami Ginzan4.7
Iwami Ginzan is a historic silver mine, which rose to prominence during the war states periods in the 16th century and the early Edo period in the 17th century. This is the only industry-based UNESCO World Heritage Site in Asia, and you can visit mine shafts, museums, historical residences, and neighboring shrines and temples.
The area has atmospheric street scenes in the wooded hillsides, evoking the long history, and it feels like time goes by very slowly. The main streets and a walking path makes up a 5km loop. Prepare proper walking shoes and outfits.

The park itself is small, with a small open rest hut as the only thing to note.
It's basically at the starting point of the tourist (walking, cycling) autobahn towards Ryūgenji shaft.
Close by is the tourist information (which is unfriendly and not really helpful) and the guide association.

Since I lived in Matsue City in the Shimane Pref., I know this spot well. Moreover, there are many other tourist spots in the Shimane Pref., such as Izumo Shrine, Lake Shinji, Oki island. Please visit there.
