Inubosaki Lighthouse (Inubosaki Todai)2.5
A 32m-(104ft-)high Western-style lighthouse on the Inubosaki (Cape Inubo) in Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture. This beautiful white tower, made of bricks, was designed and constructed in 1874 by a British engineer, Richard Henry Brunton, under contract by the Meiji Government of Japan. After climbing its 99-step spiral staircase to the top, you can have a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. There is also a lighthouse museum on site and you can learn the history of modern lighthouses. A promenade is provided along the beach under the lighthouse and you can enjoy a spectacular seaside walk viewing rough seas break into rocks.
